Multivariate Density Estimation: Theory, Practice, and Visualization by David W. Scott,
Multivariate Density Estimation: Theory, Practice, and Visualization by David W. Scott,
Density estimation has long been recognized as an important tool when used with univariate and bivariate data. But the computer revolution of recent years has provided access to data of unprecedented complexity in ever-growing volume. New tools are required to detect and summarize the multivariate structure of these difficult data. Multivariate Density Estimation: Theory, Practice, and Visualization demonstrates that density estimation retains its explicative power even when applied to trivariate and quadrivariate data. By presenting the major ideas in the context of the classical histogram, the text simplifies the understanding of advanced estimators and develops links between the intuitive histogram and other methods that are more statistically efficient. The theoretical results covered are those particularly relevant to application and understanding. The focus is on methodology, new ideas, and practical advice. A hierarchical approach draws attention to the similarities among different estimators. Also, detailed discussions of nonparametric dimension reduction, nonparametric regression, additive modeling, and classification are included. Because visualization is a key element in effective multivariate nonparametric analysis, more than 100 graphic illustrations supplement the numerous problems and examples presented in the text. In addition, sixteen four-color plates help to convey an intuitive feel for both the theory and practice of density estimation in several dimensions. Ideal as an introductory textbook, Multivariate Density Estimation is also an indispensable professional reference for statisticians, biostatisticians, electrical engineers, econometricians, and other scientistsinvolved in data analysis.

Relative density - Relative density (also known as specific gravity) is a measure of the density of a material. It is dimensionless, equal to the density of the material divided by the density of water (or, sometimes used for gases, of air).

Density altitude - Density altitude is the altitude in the International Standard Atmosphere at which the air density would be equal to the actual air density at the place of observation. "Density Altitude" is the pressure altitude adjusted for non-standard temperature.

Nuclear density - Nuclear density is the density of the nucleus of an atom, about 10^18 kg/m³; neutron stars reach this density. Nuclear density is often applied to situations where very high, or nuclear densities occur.

Local-density approximation - The local-density approximation, (LDA), is a density functional model in physics, which approximates the electron correlation energy with respect to the local electron density. In this sense, local means that, within the LDA model, the electron correlation at any point in space is a function of the electron density at that point in space only.

High Density Polyethylene - High Density Polyethylene High density polyethylene - High density polyethylene (HDPE) is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. It takes 1. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene - Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), also known as high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) or high performance polyethylene (HPPE), is a thermoplastic made from oil. It has extremely long chains, with molecular weight numbering in the millions, usually between 3. High-density exercise - High-density exercise involves either high intensity for short periods or moderate intensity for ...

Relative Density - Relative Density Fundamentals of Cosmology by Jim Rich, The book is aimed at physics students relative density and professional physicists who wish to understand the basics of cosmology relative density and general relativity as well as the most recent cosmological observations relative density and models. It presents a self-contained introduction to general relativity that is based on the homogeneity relative density and isotropy of the local universe. The simplicity of this space allows general relativity to be introduced in a ...

High Density Storage System - High Density Storage System High density storage media - High density for data storage like diskette,cd or dvd refers to the amount of information they manage. Hierarchical Storage Management - Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) is a data storage system that automatically moves data between high-cost and low-cost storage media. HSM systems exist because high-speed storage devices, such as hard disk drives, are more expensive (per byte stored) than slower devices, such as optical discs and magnetic tape drives. Density ...

High Density Foam - High Density Foam Serta Memory Foam 3-inch Mattress Topper Sleeping on a traditional spring mattress creates body pressure points that become the source of discomfort, causing tossing high density foam and turning. Memory foam has a gel-like feel that is temperature sensitive to soften the mattress with the warmth of your body. It recognizes shape high density foam and pressure points high density foam and adjusts to distribute body weight evenly. This luxurious memory foam mattress pad is rated ...
